This inagural year’s keynote is by Don Dodge, in addition to over 12 technical talks and panel discussions. The ending session’s host is Evan Burfield, Chairman of Startup DC. The following are some of the speakers scheduled to present.

Don Dodge is a Developer Advocate at Google helping developers build new applications on Google platforms and technologies. Prior to joining Google Don was a startup evangelist at Microsoft. Don is also a veteran of five start-ups including Forte Software, AltaVista, Napster, Bowstreet, and Groove Networks.

A serial entrepreneur, Evan is the chairman of Startup DC, the chairman and Founder of Synteractive, a mentor and limited partner with The Fort, and co-chair of the Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology Innovation Network. He also sits on the boards of advisors for startups including Lemur, Ivy’s, Hallway, and Study Hall.

Nitin Pradhan CEO and President, Launch Dream LLC.  Mr. Nitin Pradhan is the CEO and President of Launch Dream LLC., and the founder of Public Private Innovations , the nation’s first Federal Technology Accelerator Program and Partner Consortium.   Nitin is  also an award winning, nationally recognized ex-departmental  Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the US Department of Transportation (DOT) where he provided information technology vision, strategy, planning, policy and oversight for DOT’s more than $3.0 billion IT portfolio, the 6th largest in the federal government.  Nitin has also been the Managing Director of  Center for Innovative Technology (CIT) and the co-founder and CEO of a wireless startup. Nitin has a BS in engineering and a MBA in marketing from India, as well as a MS in accounting from The American University, in Washington DC.

Colleen Oresky  Sr VP/Operations Manager at SAIC, Ms. Oresky graduated with a Bachelor in Engineering from University of Michigan and a Masters in Engineering Management from George Washington University.  Early in her career, she worked directly with customers as a software developer, researcher, systems engineer and program manager.  She designed, developed and deployed analytical and decision support systems both domestically and overseas, as well as researched topics in artificial intelligence, data fusion, visualization and link analysis.  As her career has progressed, she transitioned to general management positions where the focus shifted from developing solutions to leading organizations, building high performing and creative teams, inspiring and mentoring employees, and servicing diverse customers.  Ms. Oresky participates in local Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) initiatives, and is on the Board of Directors for Women in Aerospace and Women in Technology. .

Keys Botzum, MapR, Keys Botzum is a Senior Principal Technologist with MapR Technologies. He has over 15 years of experience in large scale distributed system design. Mr. Botzum has worked with a variety of distributed technologies, including Sun RPC, DCE, CORBA, Java EE, AFS, and DFS. Recently, he has been focusing on Hadoop and related technologies. Previously he was a Senior Technical Staff Member with IBM and a respected author of many articles on WebSphere Application Server as well as a book. He holds a Masters degree in Computer Science from Stanford University and a B.S. in Applied Mathematics/Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University.

Dr. Michelle Lee, Sr. Director Software Engineering at GeoEye. Dr. Michelle Lee has over twenty years of technical management experience for burgeoning Wireless, Internet, Bioinformatics and Geospatial sectors. As the Sr. Director of Product Development for GeoEye, she leads a group of proactive and talented engineers, analysts to build the company’s multi-cloud solution to next generation image production line and SAAS platform. Before GeoEye, Dr. Lee held technical leadership positions in SAIC, Network Solutions, and LCC Communication. Michelle holds Ph.D. in Information technology, M.S in Computer Science and graduated in 2005 as Valedictorian of Georgetown McDonough School of Business’ Executive MBA program.

Karolyn Dector – Director, Partnership Integrations at Evernote. Karolyn  works with Evernote, a company who’s mission is to help the world remember everything, communicate effectively and get things done. In her work with the Platform Team, Karolyn focuses on the success of Evernote’s large development partners and the expansion of the Platform. Previously, Karolyn was the Vice President of Account Management at Parature, a leader in online Customer Support, responsible for the renewal and expansion of Parature’s subscription customer base. During her tenure Karolyn also built the Professional Services and Product Management teams, overseeing all provisioning, customization enhancements and executing client specifications for Parature customers. Prior to Parature, Karolyn designed and developed a biological and chemical medical surveillance application at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. She also served as a software engineer at MicroStrategy. Karolyn holds a B.A. in Computer Science and a Minor in Computer Engineering from Dartmouth College and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa honor society.

Prior to joining Google, Arun led software teams and was the Chief Product Architect with a Boston area enterprise mobility company for over 9 years. Steven Kousen is a VP and technology executive within Unisys Federal Systems, where he leads the Portfolio Solutions development, pursuit and delivery for Cloud E-mail and Collaboration Services, with latest successful implementations of Google Apps for Government at the General Services Administration (GSA), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and the Department of Energy’s Idaho National Labs (DOE-INL).   Before joining Unisys in 2003, Steve spent four years with KPMG Consulting,  and two years with General Electric Medical, leading the Global Systems, Operations and Architecture organization. Prior to that, Steve spent 2 years with Booz Allen Hamilton, leading corporate strategy and execution for global messaging and Internet services,  and with Electronic Data Systems for nine years, leading applications development and systems management services.  Steve holds an M.B.A. degree in management information systems and decision sciences from Loyola University Maryland and a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from the Pennsylvania State University.

Jonathan Altman, Founder, Mobile Startup

Jonathan has over a decade’s experiencing in architecting scalable high-volume Software as a Service (SaaS) products.  He was one of the original engineers at Outtask where he led much of the architectural design, a role he continued after Outtask’s acquisition by Concur.  In that role, he architected an online travel booking site from its inception through to its establishment as a high-volume, market leading product.  During this time, he built much of its revolutionary feature set and scalability.  Currently, he is busy as the founder of a new mobile startup.  Jonathan holds a B.A. from Dartmouth College..

D.P. Venkatesh has more than eighteen years experience in the telecommunications industry across Wireless, Internet, and Media sectors. As CEO of mPortal, Mr. Venkatesh oversees all aspects of strategy, sales, and marketing for mPortal. Over the past eleven years, he has led the company through its various growth stages.
Prior to founding mPortal, Mr. Venkatesh was with McKinsey & Company in their Hong Kong Office as part of their global Telecommunications Practice and worked with several leading global communication providers as a strategic consultant to their Boards and Management teams. His work included development of the strategy for an Asian conglomerate to expand its telecom business into China; market rollout plans of a telecom operator in India; global strategy for a large Pan-Asian carrier; and strategy for hardware manufacturer to add a new growth business in software. Mr. Venkatesh led the Asia Pacific Communications Industry practice for Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE:CSC) and started CSC’s office in Asia in Hong Kong. Fletcher Jones – Sr. Director, AOL Fishbowl Labs. Fletcher Jones manages strategic partnerships for AOL and is the Co-Founder and Director of Fishbowl Labs, a community of startups working on the AOL campus in Dulles, VA.  A long time employee of AOL, Fletcher started his career at Netscape Communications as a product manager focused on server solutions for the enterprise.  When Netscape was acquired by AOL in 1999, he made the jump to consumer applications and was responsible for a number of products in online commerce and communications.  After 6 years of product management, he proactively transitioned into marketing and ran Renewal and Payment Marketing for AOL’s subscription business before returning to products in 2007.  Fletcher is a two-time graduate of the University of Michigan with degrees in engineering and business.  He works in Dulles, VA and lives in Bethesda, MD with his wife and 3 children.  When he’s not working he enjoys running, coaching youth sports, sailing and fly fishing

Simon Rakoff, Ph.D. General Partner at Fortify.vc. Simon Rakoff is the founder and CEO of FocusLab. Hod Greeley  Senior Manager, Samsung Mobile. Head of North American Technology Evangelism. Hod has been programming professionally for over 18 years. He has worked in a variety of software fields, including computational physics and chemistry, computer and network security, investment management, and mobile devices.
